Can anyone name me titles of fantasy books which are cool for a 18 year old guy?
Try something by Scott Westerfeld or my personal favorite, Ray Bradbury. Farhenheit 451 is amazing, as is The Martain Chronicles.
Reply:King Fortis the Brave
Reply:I recommend The Obsidian Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey %26amp; James Mallory. It's a great series. The main character is a 17 year old boy. There are 3 books:

The Outstretched Shadow

To Light A Candle

When Darkness Falls

You may also like The Wheel Of Time series by Robert Jordan, although, it's become rather long %26amp; drawn out with 11 books and at least one more on the way. They are good books, though.

Chronicles Of The Cheysuli by Jennifer Roberson is another good one. The first book is mainly about a girl but the rest of them are about young men.
Reply:The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan starting with *Eye of the World*.
Reply:Anything from Tolkein. The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings.

Harry Potter (it's not just for kids).

Heinlien (branching into SF)

pick something you love and go with it.
Reply:If you haven't read the Harry Potter books they're surprisingly good. I read the first of the Eragon series and I thought it was good. The Hobbit and The Lord of the Ring. Dune by Frank Herbert is good and the Butlerian Jihad by Brian Herbert is even better.
Reply:I've been reading speculative fiction and playing D %26amp; D since I was 12. If you want good books that are entertaining , and possibly a challenging read, I would suggest the following:

Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan

The Hobbit and LOTR by JRR Tolkien

Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks

Elfstones of Shannara by Terry Brooks

Wishsong of Shannara by Terry Brooks

any book by R.A. Salvatore

The Belgariad Cycle by David and Leigh

Eddings

The Malloreon Cycle by same

any series by Margaret Weiss and Tracy

Hickman

In particular the first series I mentioned. Robert Jordan is a graduate of the Citadel and uses his knowledge of tactics and soldiers in his books. The series isn't finished yet, but there's eleven books out. Whatever you decide to read know that despite your critics you are expanding your mind. The act of reading anything teaches. Hope these lists helped, enjoy.
Reply:I don't think fantasy books are cool but ones that aren't childish...

Robert Jordans Wheel of Time series, George R R Martins Song of Fire and Ice for a start
Reply:playboy
Reply:It depends on what kind of fantasy you like. But in general I'd recommend

Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth Series

Any book by Wen Spencer

Lorna Freeman's Borderlands Series,

Jim Butcher's Codex Alera and Dresden Files,

David Weber's Honor Harrington Series and Bahzell Series,

Sten Series by Chris Bunch and Allan Cole,

Roger Zelazny's Amber Series,

the Belisarius Series by David Drake and Eric Flint,

the evergreen Conan the Barbarian books

and

Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake Series.

I've included all kinds of books here.

The Sword of Truth Series is High Fantasy with Sword and Sorcery backdrop.

Wen Spencer has two series out.

The Ukiah Oregon Series is a new take on werewolves.

The Tinker Series is a new take on elves and magic.

Both Series have an Urban Fantasy Backdrop.

There is also a stand alone book called "A Brother's Price" set in a matriarchal world.

The Borderlands books are Coming of Age novels with a military fantasy backdrop.

Codex Alera too, upto a certain extent is similar but it has elements of military fantasy with Espionage and political intrigue.

The Dresden Files are about a modern day wizard trying to make a living as a Private Investigator.

Honor Harrington Series, I consider the best space opera ever.

The Bahzell Series can be considered high fantasy set in an alternate world.

The Sten series is recommended because it gives you a completely new take on Imperialism.

The Belisarius Series is an Alternate History series set in a roman backdrop with inclusions fron Persian, Indian and Ethiopian culture during the days of the Roman Empire, before the birth of Islam.

The Anita Blake Series is a dark urban fantasy with loads of s*x and violence.

The Conan the barbarian books were originally by Robert E Howard but later the franchise was carried on by other authors.

One author I forgot to mention earlier is Mercedes Lackey. Her Valdemar books are quite interesting.

You can find more recommendations at the following site.
Reply:Books by david eddings are good, clive barker, tad williams....
Reply:I think you would like the "Dune Trilogy" by Frank Herbert. First volume is "Dune", then "Children of Dune" and I've forgotten the last title. They are richly creative with lots of adventure and heroism thrown in.
Reply:This isn't exactly fantasy, more of sci-fi, but still worth the read.

Ender's Game by Orson Card

1984 by George Orwell
Reply:The Theif, the Lord of the Rings trilogy is really good, I've read some from Mercedes Lackey, I think she's a pretty good author.
Reply:none.
Reply:yeah the O'Malley series and uncommon heroes -true honour, true valour by Dee Henderson
Reply:inhieritance trilogy aka eragon

old kingdom series (sabriel, liriel, abhorsen)

lord of the rings suck
Reply:A kid in my chinese class said someone in his family or a friend that's in high school or something like that, well he just wrote a book called 'The Adventures of Ryushin' and that a fantasy I think.
Reply:If it has to be fantasy, I have got to say there aren't that many on the market, and this is coming from a 17 year old guy. If I had to be caught reading a fantasy book, I would say something from Tolkien.
