I 'm trying to write a fantasy novel, and I was thinking about calling it "The Ruler - Fate's Destiny." "Obviously having more than one book, or so I hope. (I'm going to decide later, and if I do I'll change the title. Just wondering if it is catchy enough, or if anyone has any other suggestions or tips I would appreaciate it. :) Thank-you!
Fantasy novel - is this name good?
You could do a backwards concept map to come up with a title. You know- those bubbles that branch off a center bubble. (My English teacher used to make me do them, and I had no idea why until years later.) Anyway, you put the elements of the story, exciting events, names, places, theme, etc in the bubbles that branch off the center. Then use those words to make the title in the center bubble. You'll come up with a title that hints what the novel is about.
Reply:i agree with opinionatedkitten, "Fate's Destiny" makes me wonder about it. as in, how could Fate have a destiny? is Fate a character? etcetc
Reply:I'd take out the ruler - gives out too much and makes it heavier.
I'd simply call it Fate's Destiny.
I think it makes it sound more mysterious and the redundancy of the name calls to attention.
Reply:Easiest way is to call the first book The Ruler, then if it sells title the rest the way you've written this title.
And yeah is Fate a character name or just double speak?
Reply:Very good
Reply:NO
Reply:Well, it all depends on the story and whether it fits. With the title it has now, it will catch interest because the story itself (based on the title alone) could turn in multiple directions. For example, it could be inturpretted to be a fantasy like you're aiming, a historical fiction, a romance, or possibly all three, or maybe others.
So yes, it's catchy enough ^_^ I'd definitely pick it up.
Hope this helped!
