What are some beautiful names for fantasy characters?
I love creating names for characters! I'm so glad that you're taking the character's personality into consideration before naming them.
I usually go to behindthename.com or other etymology sites that would help.
I'm into Japanese names right now so names like "Nyoko," "Kazu," "Haru" are in my head but, I think, your mermaid should have a Greek name or something like that. Maybe "Euterpe" (the muse of lyrical poetry) but since she's deaf, you may want to add a twist to it. Maybe a middle name like "Dolora" (Spanish, derived from "Dolores" meaning sad).
Reply:i like going into the appendix in the back of lord of the rings, and using the suffix's and whatnot that mean things in elvish and (i dont know the word exactly) warping(?) it into what sounds good and looks good for your character. tolkien is a great resouce, just be sure not to use his words exactly, just as a basis to make up your own.

Reply:I would look up names from mythology, as well as Celtic, Gaelic and Welsh names. Or combine some names together- that could also work.
